Mental Health Support

Mental Health and Wellbeing

The term mental health refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Good mental health and wellbeing is important at every stage of life as it affects how we relate to others, handle stress and make choices in our everyday life.

The latest statics suggest that five children in a classroom of 30 are likely to have a mental health problem. Over half of all mental health disorders start before the age of 14 years, therefore helping a child get the right support at a younger age results in better outcomes (The Children’s Society 2021).

At Mengham Juniors we are lucky to work alongside the MHST (Mental Health Support Team), a dedicated team of mental health professionals who come into our school and provide 1:1 care for children identified as requiring mental health support.

If you are worried about either your own, or your child’s mental health, please talk to us. We can refer your child to the MHST for a friendly, confidential assessment, or signpost yourself to mental help support. Outside of school hours, please seek advice from one of the below useful links, or dial 111 for advice.
