Teaching Assistant

Salary Pro-Rata: £15,583.80
Hours of Work: 31.5 hours per week, 8:40-3:20 pm, Monday – Friday, Term Time only

We are looking for a friendly, flexible and professional person to join their established learning support team to support children in developing their social and emotional skills in order that they become more able to access their learning.

We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing and creative learning environment for our children and our staff have high expectations for all children. You will be working alongside a class teacher to support children with predominately social and emotional needs.  This will be on a 1:1 basis or supporting small groups of children.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Enjoy working with children.
  • Will be committed to enabling children to develop positive learning behaviours and make good progress.
  • Ideally have some awareness of the impact attachment and trauma can have on children.
  • Have a good understanding of the barriers to learning some children may experience.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Be able to use their own initiative.
  • Hold a GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths.
  • Understand safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.
  • Be patient and resilient.

Please note that the post will also include daily lunchtime duties with a particular focus on encouraging positive play.

Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant

Job/Person Summary

We are looking to recruit a friendly, caring Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant who enjoys working with children.  The successful candidate will need to be confident when dealing with pupils, a good communicator, a team player and willing to undertake first aid training.

The role involves a variety of responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding of children in line with key legislation and school policies
  • Playground/field supervision, including setting up, supporting and developing lunchtime activities, dining hall duties and wet break supervision in class.
  • Reading activities with pupils
  • Ensuring that good order and behaviour is maintained in accordance with the school’s agreed Behaviour Policy.
  • Administering basic first aid and liaising with other staff as necessary.
  • Attending monthly team meetings outside of the lunch period.
  • Assisting with ancillary duties e.g. cleaning up spillages, wiping tables etc.
  • Ensuring confidentiality of dealings in school.
