Mengham Junior School is a two-form entry school, set in attractive wraparound grounds, only ½ km from the sea and just 20 minutes from the A27.
We are looking for a friendly, flexible and professional person to join their established learning support team to support children in developing their social and emotional skills in order that they become more able to access their learning.
We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing and creative learning environment for our children and our staff have high expectations for all children. You will be working alongside a class teacher to support children with predominately social and emotional needs. This will be on a 1:1 basis or supporting small groups of children.
The ideal candidate will:
- Enjoy working with children.
- Will be committed to enabling children to develop positive learning behaviours and make good progress.
- Ideally have some awareness of the impact attachment and trauma can have on children.
- Have a good understanding of the barriers to learning some children may experience.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with both children and adults.
- Be able to use their own initiative.
- Hold a GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths.
- Understand safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.
- Be patient and resilient.
Please note that the post will also include daily lunchtime duties with a particular focus on encouraging positive play.

Administrative Assistant

Job/Person Summary
Mengham Junior School are looking to recruit a professional and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant with excellent communication skills and a friendly and approachable manner. The ideal candidate will have proven IT skills to include word processing, mail merge, spreadsheets, email and school-based software.
The ideal candidate will need to:
- Have experience of working in a school administration environment
- Have excellent administration and organisational skills
- Have good communication skills (oral and written) enabling them to communicate clearly and effectively at all times.
- Be proactive, working on their own initiative with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Have GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English Grade C or above qualification
- Have a sound knowledge of Microsoft packages especially Word and Excel
- Have good computer and keyboard skills
- Have excellent time management skills and be able to work under pressure with interruptions
- Have experience of Arbor or similar database e.g. SIMS
- Have experience of TUCASI or similar cash office system
- Have a First Aid qualification or be prepared to train
- Have a high level of confidentiality and safeguarding knowledge although training will be provided
- Have a ‘can do’ and flexible approach to all aspects of the role
- Be prepared to train in any of the above missing skills
Duties will include, but are not limited to, provide a welcoming reception to visitors, answering telephone and email queries, updating the school website, administering first-aid and medication for children (full training will be provided), receiving and recording of monies for trips and lunches etc., managing the school calendar/diary, supporting staff with administration and letters for school events, trips, gathering information for and compiling the school newsletter and other communications with stakeholders.
