Oak Class Butser Trip

2nd October 2019

Dear Parents/Carers

Year 3 Butser Ancient Farm Trip

We are excited to announce that Year 3 will be visiting Butser Ancient Farm in Chalton, Waterlooville as part of their ‘Romans’ history topic.  Your child will take part in the following workshops: Archaeology, Wattling, Chalk Carving, Pottery.  We believe that this is a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore how the Romans lived.

Birch Class will visit on Tuesday 1st October

Oak Class will visit on Wednesday 2nd October

The children will be transported by school minibuses.  We shall leave school at approximately 9.00 a.m. and return in time for children to follow their normal ‘home time routine’.

Please provide a packed lunch including a drink (no bottles or cans please) or order a picnic lunch from the school kitchen at a cost of £2.40 (unless you qualify for free school meals).  It is important that you indicate on the reply slip if you would like a school picnic (note that no drink is provided in the school picnic).

The site is very muddy and whilst there is some shelter, it is essential that children wear:

their school sweatshirt

old warm trousers

have a change of footwear

a woolly hat

warm gloves

a waterproof coat

wellington boots/ old shoes with warm socks

Strong, old trainers are warmer than wellies on cold, dry days.  Wellies are good if the weather and ground are wet.

Please provide a carrier bag for the muddy wellies/old shoes

A donation of £10.70 is required towards the workshops and transport costs of this trip and if this should cause any problems please do not hesitate to contact the school office.  Please complete and return the attached slip below, together with your donation, as soon as possible but no later than Friday 20th September.

Yours sincerely

Miss Farrage and Miss Sinclair
