Butser Trip for Elm Class

13th February 2019

Dear Parents/Carers

Year 3 Butser Ancient Farm Trip

We are excited to announce that Year 3 will be visiting Butser Ancient Farm in Chalton, Waterlooville as part of their ‘Romans’ history topic.  Your child will take part in the following workshops: Archaeology, Wattling, Jewellery, Villa tour and Mosaics.  We believe that this is a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore how the Romans lived.

Lime Class will visit on Tuesday 12th  February

Elm Class will visit on Wednesday 13th February

Maple Class will visit on Thursday 14th February

The children will be transported by school minibuses.  We shall leave school at approximately 9.00 a.m. and return in time for children to follow their normal ‘home time routine’.

Please provide a packed lunch including a drink (no bottles or cans please) or order a picnic lunch from the school kitchen at a cost of £2.30 (unless you qualify for free school meals).  It is important that you indicate on the reply slip if you would like a school picnic (note that no drink is provided in the school picnic).

The site is very muddy and whilst there is some shelter, it is essential that children wear:

their school sweatshirt

old warm trousers

a woolly hat

have a change of footwear

a waterproof coat

warm socks

warm gloves

wellington boots/ old shoes

Please provide a carrier bag for the muddy wellies/old shoes
