Jacky Roffey - Nurture Group

Nurture groups are small groups of children, on average six to ten pupils with two adults, who meet twice a week.  Nurture group sessions are focused on various elements that may be impeding on pupils learning, these may include emotional, social or behavioural difficulties.

The sessions involve; learning about manners and why they are imporitant, taking part in social skills activities and discussing any issues that pupils may be experiencing in a safe and secure environment with trusted adults, consequently, devising strategies to help them and improve the situation.  Pupils are also given responsibilties in the form of jobs, such as caring for the school fish; cleaning the tank and feeding them.  They are also given classroom targets, set by their teachers, to address areas of difficulty in the classroom.

Children are identified by their class treacher as being able to benefit from this intervention.
